Participants met with government agencies, private employers, and received free hair cuts and other services.

    <title><![CDATA[Rep. Napolitano Welcomes New Water Recycling Bill ]]></title>

    <description><![CDATA[Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (D-Santa Fe Springs) welcomed the passage in the House today of HR 2442, the Bay Area Regional Water Recycling Program Expansion Act of 2009. The projects authorized in the bill will provide 2.6 billion gallons of water per year for California, enough water to provide for more than 24,000 households. Napolitano was joined both Democratic and Republican representatives in passing the bill 241 to 173.

Napolitano joined other members of the House of Representatives today in passing a thirteen-week extension of unemployment benefits for the 29 states and territories with unemployment rates greater than 8.5%. In California, which reported an unemployment rate of 12.2% in August, 68,713 people will be without benefits by the end of September and 154,328 by the end of December unless this legislation is signed into law.
