Napolitano to Serve on Resources, Small Business
Today, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi appointed Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (D-CA38) to the House Resources Committee and House Small Business Committee. “I was privileged to serve on both of these committees in the last Congress, and I look forward to continuing my work on these important panels,” stated Napolitano.
The Resources Committee has jurisdiction over numerous important environmental and energy issues, including an issue of critical importance to Southern California—water. “Ensuring an adequate water supply is critical for the survival of business, the health of families and the growth of our economy here in Southern California. I will continue to use my position on the Resources Committee to advocate for fair water policies that address the needs of my constituents,” noted the Congresswoman.
As it did in the last Congress, the Resources Committee will likely have a significant role in crafting comprehensive energy legislation. “I look forward to this serious task. We Californians understand the need for a reliable, dependable energy source, and none of us want to experience blackouts again. But we must also make sure that our energy policy is environmentally responsible and preserves our planet for future generations. I will continue to push for energy policies focused on renewable energy sources and conservation,” commented Napolitano.
The Small Business Committee addresses a variety of issues facing America’s small businesses, including contract bundling and access to capital. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, particularly here in the 38th congressional district. I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue working on their behalf on the Small Business Committee,” the Congresswoman said.
Napolitano also remarked on the bipartisan nature of the Small Business Committee. “It is truly a pleasure to serve on a Committee in which Democrats and Republicans really work together for the benefit of our small businesses. Last Congress, I was delighted to hold a local field hearing in Norwalk with Committee Chairman Donald Manzullo (R-IL) to discuss local small business owners’ concerns regarding contract bundling and trade opportunities. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the Chairman and other members on issues of concern to small businesses.”
