Rep. Napolitano to Co-Host Mental Health Briefing

Rep. Grace F. Napolitano, a vice chair of the House Democratic Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, will co-host a briefing and panel discussion entitled Mental Health in America along with other Task Force Members on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 4:00 to 5:30 PM in the Congressional Auditorium of the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center.

What: Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Briefing on Mental Health in America

The event will provide an overview of mental health in America as well as insight as to what is being done to address the critical issue. A panel of mental health experts will speak on the key components within the mental health system such as: education for Members and staff on mental illness, funding for mental health services, mental health research and data, prevention and intervention services, and ways to properly report about mental health when working with media. In addition, educational information will be provided to address the issue of stigma.
