Napolitano Reiterates Call to Impeach Trump

September 24, 2019

(WASHINGTON, DC) Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano reiterated her call to impeach President Donald Trump, issuing the following statement:

"President Trump admitted today to withholding military aid for Ukraine and subsequently lied it was in order to fight corruption abroad. We need to fight corruption here at home, and it starts with impeaching Trump.

"The truth is the President essentially bribed a foreign government to attack a private U.S. citizen, potentially to weaken a political challenger. This is unconscionable, impeachable, and an unacceptable action by the leader of our nation, who is supposed to be beyond reproach in any and all matters. He welcomed Russia's help in meddling in our election, fired former FBI Director Comey when he would not investigate a political opponent, then attempted to fire Special Counsel Mueller to obstruct an investigation, and tampered with witnesses as part of a cover-up.

"For years I have supported a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump's wrongdoings which have put our nation at risk. It is time to hold the President accountable for his crimes, lies, and other unlawful actions. NO ONE is above the law."
