Napolitano’s Statement on President Biden’s American Jobs Plan

March 31, 2021
Press Release

(WASHINGTON, DC)  Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (D-El Monte) released the following statement on President Biden’s American Jobs Plan:

“The President’s plan will greatly improve the lives of San Gabriel Valley residents and all Americans by reducing commute times, increasing safety on our highways, bridges, buses and rails, and safeguarding our environment, while creating millions of good-paying jobs. Bold and forward-looking, it aims to not just repair our country’s aging infrastructure, but rebuild it to withstand impacts from climate change. With robust investment in research and development, American manufacturing, and job training, it will help prepare our future workforce and regain our competitiveness abroad.

“I am especially pleased the plan seeks to upgrade and modernize America’s drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. Every family deserves access to clean water, in times of crisis or not, and the cities in my district and throughout LA County will benefit from increased investment as they tackle stormwater control issues while addressing ongoing drought conditions. As Chairwoman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee, I look forward to working with the President, his administration, and my colleagues on the committee to ensure we are meeting the immediate and long-term water needs of my constituents and all Americans.

“The American Jobs Plan also addresses other critical, long neglected infrastructure needs, such as weatherizing and retrofitting public housing, schools, child care facilities, VA hospitals, and other federal buildings, as well as expanding broadband access to bridge the digital divide. It is the comprehensive, 21st Century infrastructure plan our country needed long before the pandemic and that our recovery demands now. It’s time to build the infrastructure of the future. It’s time to Build Back Better.”
