Napolitano’s Statement on Release of Nunes Memo

(WASHINGTON, DC) Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (D-El Monte) issued the following statement on the release of House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes' memo:

"With questionable information in their partisan, misleading memo, Republicans are not fooling anyone by their claims that this was done in the name of full transparency. If this were true, Chairman Nunes and other Republicans on the Intelligence Committee would have approved the concurrent release of the memo written by Democrats on the Committee.

"It is clear that the rationale for authoring, declassifying, and ultimately releasing the memo was to discredit our nation's top law enforcement officials and to undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.

"We call on Speaker Ryan to remove Chairman Nunes and allow for the immediate release of the Democratic memo. Congress must also act swiftly to protect Special Counsel Mueller and the investigation."
