Napolitano’s Statement on Supreme Court Rejecting Trump Administration’s DACA Challenge

February 26, 2018

(WASHINGTON, DC) Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (D-El Monte) released the following statement after the Supreme Court announced it would decline to hear UC Regents v. DHS, the California case that resulted in an injunction temporarily reinstating DACA renewals:

"We are relieved that the Supreme Court has rejected the Trump administration's appeal challenging DACA. Its refusal to hear this case means current DACA recipients may continue submitting renewal applications as long as the lower court's injunction remains in place. But DREAMers who would be eligible for DACA are still not permitted to apply and face the threat of deportation. This underscores the urgent need for Congress to pass a narrow, permanent legislative solution to protect and provide certainty to all DREAMers, action that is supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans. We have no time to waste. Now is the time to act and do what is right for these young people and for our country."
