Rep. Napolitano’s Statement on Joint Proposal to Replace Diablo Canyon Nuclear Reactors with Green Energy

(Washington, DC)  Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (D-El Monte) released the following statement after Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and labor and environmental groups announced a joint proposal to close Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant and replace it with investment in a greenhouse-gas-free portfolio of energy efficiency, renewables, and energy storage:

“Today’s decision puts the safety of California residents first and shows our commitment to meeting our state's energy efficiency goals. We commend all parties in coming together to reach this agreement, a critical step toward building a clean energy future for all Californians.”
