Rep. Napolitano Speaks at Water Scarcity Conference

(Irvine, CA) On Monday, December 1st, Rep. Napolitano addressed the participants of the International Conference on Water Scarcity, Global Changes, and Groundwater Management Responses at the Student Conference Center of the University of California, Irvine. Conference participants came from around the world and included representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), International Health Programs (IHP) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
 
As chair of the House Water and Power Subcommittee, the Congresswoman spoke about the need to invest in state and federal programs that address our nation’s water infrastructure. Recent cuts to programs water recycling programs have created a backlog of projects, she said, but expressed hope that the new Congress would pass stimulus package that included significant funds for water infrastructure.
 
“We need to get ahead of the crisis and provide tools to address water challenges,” Rep. Napolitano added.
