Rep. Napolitano's Statement on Potential Government Shutdown

September 30, 2013
Press Release

(Washington, DC) Today, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano (CA-32) released the following statement on the prospect of a federal government shutdown:

“I am extremely disappointed that my Republican colleagues are holding hardworking Americans hostage over the law of the land, the Affordable Care Act,” Napolitano said. “A shutdown would be devastating to hundreds of thousands of workers and their families and undermine the already suffering confidence Americans have in their government. It is critical we solve this issue and avert crisis immediately, then we can get back to work on the other critical issues facing our communities, such as job creation, the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and immigration reform. If there is a shutdown, our District and Washington, DC offices will remain open. My dedicated staff and I will continue working on behalf of the constituents of the 32nd District, but we remain hopeful that we can reach a resolution.”
