VIDEO: Rep. Napolitano Congratulates U.S. Army on 237th Birthday

June 14, 2012

Today marks the 237th birthday of the U.S. Army, and Rep. Grace F. Napolitano issued the following statement to congratulate the troops, veterans, and military families of the U.S. Army:

"The Army has deep roots in every community in our nation, and we feel patriotic when we think of how the young men and women in our armed forces protect the integrity of the freedom that we all enjoy. Today is a special day for the Army, and I am proud of all of our brave men and women in all of our service branches. I wish you all god speed and protection wherever you are in the world. Congratulations again to the Army -- we want you to know you make us proud every day."

The United States Army traces its history to ten companies of riflemen that answered the call for a Continental Army and enlisted on June 14, 1775. Today, over 700,000 soldiers continue the traditions of the United States Army by serving in over 100 countries throughout the world.
